Baggage and other policies:

Hand baggage policy -

Austrian Airlines allows hand baggage up to 8 kg in weight and 55 x 40 x 23 cm in size.

  • For passengers who have booked an Austrian Airlines flight in economy and premium class, such hand baggage is permitted.
  • For passengers who have booked a business class flight with Austrian Airlines, two such handbags are allowed.

For flights serving European routes -

  • For passengers traveling in Economy Light, no checked baggage allowance is available and such baggage will be charged.
  • Passengers traveling in Economy Classic and Flex are entitled to one piece of baggage weighing no more than 23 kg.
  • Passengers traveling in business class are entitled to two checked bags weighing no more than 32 kg each.

For international flights -

  • Economy Light passengers no longer benefit from any checked baggage allowance
  • Economy Saver, Basic, and Flex passengers are allowed to check in a piece weighing 23 kg or less.
  • Premium Economy Saver, Basic, and Flex passengers can carry two checked bags weighing up to 23 kg each.
  • Business Saver and Flex passengers can travel with two checked bags up to 32 kg each.

Austrian Airlines provides mandatory unaccompanied minor service for children aged 5–11 and optional unaccompanied minor service for children aged 12–17. The unaccompanied minor will be assisted from the moment of his departure until the moment he is safely received by his respective guardian at the arrival airport.

Austrian Airlines allows a maximum of two animals on board in an approved transport container. Animals weighing more than 8 kg (animal + container) and containers larger than 55 x 40 x 23 cm will not be allowed in the cabin but must be transported in the hold.
